Job Description About the role

We are seeking a detailed oriented Assistant Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations, month-end close, and statutory compliance. This role helps maintain smooth financial operations and provides essential support to finance functions.

The day-to-day responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

* Oversee and support accounts payable - invoice matching, coding, approvals, payment runs
* Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments
* Oversee and support bank and credit card reconciliations
* Maintain fixed asset registers
* Support payroll processing
* Respond to finance queries from internal teams and external stakeholders
* Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
* Assist with preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
* Support variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting
* Assist with BAS/GST preparation and support
* Support PAYG and superannuation compliance
* Assist with audit and year end processes
Desired Skills and Experience Key Selection Criteria
* Relevant tertiary qualification such as Certificate IV in Accounting or Bookkeeping, or a Degree in Accounting.
* Previous experience in a similar accounting role.
* Working knowledge of MYOB, Xero, Employment Hero, Intermediate Excel skills, and other Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
* Knowledge of MYP an advantage.
* Experience in Payroll processing with particular experience in legislation, compliance and reconciliations.
* Strong communication skills both verbal and written with strong level of attention to detail.
* Proven ability to work either as part of a team or independently.
* Exceptional organisational ability to manage multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines.
* Demonstrated high level of discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters.
* A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a Criminal Record Check (CRC) issued within the last 12 months that includes working with vulnerable groups
* A valid NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) to be obtained and maintained at your own expense
* Eligibility to work in Australia on a permanent basis.
