About the role
This is an exciting role that will give you a more thorough understanding of the Environmental Audit framework, covering a large breadth of technical information and experience.
You will review a variety of Environmental Audit Reports, with landfills as the main focus. The role involves identifying issues with Environmental Audits and escalating them where required. You will interact with a wide range of EPA employees and Environmental Auditors answering queries and troubleshooting issues using your technical skills.
Experience in the landfill space and work in the Environmental Audit system are both desirable.
In this role you will:
9. Deal with highly complex or sensitive scientific information regarding site remediation and management, where high levels of communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills are required to achieve a resolution within set timeframes.
10. Working under the direction of the Team Leader, Environmental Audit, plan and deliver the Environmental Audit program, including the review of the scope of audits submitted prior to audits commencing (within 30 business day of submission).
11. Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve systems and teamwork practices.
12. Implement policies and process for the appointment, re-appointment, and disciplinary action (conditions, suspensions, revocation) of Environmental Auditors, ensuring the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act 2017 are complied with.
13. Implement quality assurance processes, assessing and reviewing compliance of environmental audit reports, including the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for the Environmental Audit program to ensure compliance.
Skills and Experience:
14. A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications in science or engineering or related field such as hydrogeology, soil science, environmental chemistry, quality management or a related discipline is desirable.
15. Experience in an assurance function, preferably within Government.
16. Experience in environmental site assessment is desirable.
