Key Duties and Responsibilities
Scaffolding and Yard Operations
The role is responsible for supporting scaffolding operations through effective yard and equipment management. This includes stacking and de‑stacking scaffold equipment into stillages, servicing equipment, and maintaining the scaffolding yard to ensure a clean, organised, and safe working environment. The position provides ongoing support to scaffolders through the supply of materials and equipment as required.
Duties also include assisting with the loading and unloading of trucks, managing inventory, and operating forklifts where required, while strictly adhering to all safety procedures and site requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑organised yard environment, including keeping work areas free of debris and ensuring equipment is stored correctly
* Performing general housekeeping duties such as sweeping, cleaning, and identifying and reporting potential safety hazards
* Organising and managing scaffolding equipment to ensure it is readily available and stored in a manner that supports efficient operations
Loading, Unloading and Transport
* Safely loading and unloading scaffolding materials and equipment from trucks and other vehicles
* Operating forklifts to move materials and equipment within the yard in accordance with licensing and safety requirements
* Assisting with the delivery of scaffolding equipment to work fronts, ensuring materials are supplied safely and efficiently
Inventory Management
* Participating in regular stock checks to ensure accurate tracking and control of scaffolding equipment
* Assisting with the identification and ordering of materials and equipment based on project and operational requirements
Safety and Compliance
* Adhering to all safety guidelines, procedures, and site protocols at all times
* Ensuring scaffold equipment is stacked, stored, and handled in accordance with company policies and safe work practices
* Participating in required safety training to maintain currency and awareness of procedures
* Reporting any unsafe conditions, behaviours, or instances of improper equipment handling
General Duties
* Assisting with general yard duties as required to support site operations
* Assisting with additional tasks as needed, including painting and minor repairs
Rigging Responsibilities
* Managing inventory of rigging equipment, including slings, chains, wire rope, hardware, and associated materials
* Ensuring rigging equipment is maintained in serviceable condition through regular inspection and identification of damage or wear
* Performing basic maintenance or repairs to equipment where appropriate
* Assisting with the sourcing and purchasing of new rigging equipment and consumables as required
* Demonstrating a strong understanding of safe handling and use of rigging equipment
* Providing support to rigging operations when required, including assisting with equipment setup or attaching loads
* Communicating effectively with riggers and other site personnel regarding equipment availability, requirements, and any identified issues
Inspection and Tagging
* Conducting visual quarterly inspections and tagging of rigging and height‑safety equipment
Note: To be qualified to conduct inspections and tagging, candidates must hold an Advanced Rigging licence, or hold Basic or Intermediate Rigging and have successfully completed the recognised inspection course:
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Sound knowledge of rigging equipment, including types, applications, and correct use
* Strong inventory management skills with the ability to organise, track, and maintain accurate records
* A high level of safety awareness and understanding of rigging and scaffolding safety practices and regulations
* Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with riggers, scaffolders, and other site personnel
* Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of equipment operation and maintenance
* Physical capability and stamina to safely lift, move, and handle heavy equipment
Mandatory Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must:
* Hold, at a minimum:
* Intermediate Scaffolding qualification
* Intermediate Rigging qualification
* Forklift licence
* Current MR driver's licence or higher
* Be proficient in basic computer skills
* Successfully pass a full medical assessment and drug and alcohol screening
* Hold a current police clearance
Desirable Experience
* Experience using digital asset management systems
* Familiarity with barcoding or RFID systems
* Previous experience working with SAP
