The Hutchins School is seeking a motivated and reliable Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities team and contribute to a safe, functional and welcoming environment for our students, staff and visitors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant plays an important role in maintaining the School's buildings, facilities and grounds. This hands‐on position supports the day‐to‐day operational needs of the School through maintenance, logistics, event and operational support.

This full‐time, permanent role offers variety and would suit an individual who enjoys practical work, problem‐solving and working as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with general maintenance repairs and operational requirements across the School.
* Support the set up and pack down of classrooms, examinations, assemblies, events and venue hire activities.
* Respond to maintenance requests and assist in prioritising tasks.
* Undertake inspections, audits and reporting on school infrastructure.
* Assist with deliveries and movement of equipment and materials across campus.
* Maintain tools, equipment and workspaces in a safe and organised manner.
* Drive School vehicles as required.
* Contribute to a safe working environment by identifying, reporting and addressing hazards, maintaining safe work practices, and ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, School policies and procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

* Experience in facilities, maintenance, or a similar operational environment.
* Strong practical skills and the ability to undertake physical work safely.
* Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
* The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when operational requirements arise.

The following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Work Safely at Heights accreditation.
* Light Rigid Vehicle Licence.
