PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: The Hatchery Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and biosecurity within the hatchery facility, including hatchers, setters, take-off area and chick room. This role plays a critical part in maintaining animal welfare and minimising the risk of contamination and disease spread. The position ensures all cleaning activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and industry regulations. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES: Cleaning and Hygiene Carry out thorough cleaning and sanitisation of hatchers, setters, take-off area, transfer area, and chick room in line with standard operating procedures. Safely handle cleaning agents, chemicals, and equipment to achieve effective sanitisation. Remove all waste, debris, fluff and contaminants from machines, trays, floors and surrounding areas. Operate pressure washers and other cleaning equipment safely and effectively. Biosecurity and Safety Follow strict biosecurity procedures to prevent cross-contamination between different hatchery areas. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe work practices at all times. Report hazards, maintenance issues, or incidents promptly to supervisors. Assist in maintaining records of cleaning schedules, chemical use, and compliance checks. Teamwork and Communication Work cooperatively with hatchery staff and supervisors to ensure cleaning tasks are completed to standard. Communicate effectively regarding cleaning progress, issues, or required improvements. Support continuous improvement initiatives in hygiene and safety practices. Compliance Ensure all cleaning tasks meet company policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and relevant food safety standards. Adhere to environmental and ethical standards in the use and disposal of cleaning agents and waste.
