Principal Lawyer/Practice Leader-Commercial Law
Our client is a highly impressive multi‑award‑winning modern, forward‑thinking, nimble, young, vibrant and close‑knit multi‑disciplinary law firm undergoing continuous growth. We have an existing diverse commercial law practice that includes commercial transactions, commercial & construction litigation, property/conveyancing and succession law.
The firm is looking for a practice leader to take full ownership and drive further growth of the practice, managing a team of lawyers and paralegals, reporting to the Managing Partner and GM. The role offers a competitive salary of $160,000‑$230,000 plus a lucrative performance bonus, guaranteed annual increase and financial support for further education. Flexible work‑from‑home arrangement is available. The position is based in Sydney.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage the commercial law practice, overseeing all practice areas.
Build and maintain a high‑performing team of lawyers and paralegals.
Drive business development and client acquisition to grow the practice.
Provide strategic input into business decisions relating to the commercial practice.
Maintain and develop client relationships, ensuring high‑quality service and satisfaction.

Who you are
Seasoned partner, principal, sole practitioner or senior associate seeking greater responsibility.
Proven experience in commercial law transactions (essential) and preferably in at least one of commercial litigation, construction law, property law or succession law.
Transferable client base or a strong track record in business development and marketing.
Strong technical legal drafting, negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
Demonstrated leadership and effective client relationship management.
Entrepreneurial, ambitious, self‑driven and eager to be a key person in a fast‑growing firm.
