Site Operations Manager Job Description
The primary role of this position is to ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of our school site and buildings. This involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security, as well as creating a welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Open and secure the school buildings daily ensuring a secure and safe environment.
* Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and cleaning tasks to maintain the school's appearance and facilities.
* Monitor contractors and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, managing risks and implementing measures to mitigate potential hazards.
* Maintain external grounds and support winter maintenance activities to ensure the school's exterior remains well-maintained throughout the year.
* Conduct routine inspections and compliance checks, such as heating, water, fire safety, to guarantee the school's facilities meet necessary safety standards.
* Keep accurate records and logs, including fire safety, health checks, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and identify areas for improvement.
* Support lettings and emergency callouts outside regular hours, providing assistance and responding promptly to any issues that may arise.
* Supervise cleaning staff and support their training needs, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Previous experience in caretaking or a similar role, with a proven track record of maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and security.
* Practical DIY and basic repair skills, with the ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Knowledge of health & safety at work and COSHH, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.
* Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
* Experience supervising staff, with a proven ability to motivate and support team members.
* Physical fitness for manual handling duties, with the ability to lift and move heavy objects as required.
* Commitment to ongoing training and development, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
* Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation.
