At the same time, we are actively re-defining and instituting more efficient software development lifecycles with a leading suite of GenAI tools. We're seeking a Junior AI Engineer to work with our AI and Software Engineering teams to develop cutting edge AI & agentic solutions for our clients, and for Kablamo's own suite of products.
The Role

Kablamo's AI team designs and builds Generative AI solutions, turning business problems into working software and solutions, powered by large language models and other AI/ML tools including computer vision, image generation, time-series forecasting, transcription etc. As a Junior AI Engineer, you'll work alongside senior engineers and technical leads to design, prototype, and deliver GenAI applications and solutions, from early proof-of-concepts through to production systems.
As part of the day to day working, you will work with LLMs via cloud platforms and APIs, build AI generated prototypes, create AI agents, integrate with data sources, and apply prompt engineering techniques to create solutions that are safe, secure, and cost-effective. You'll move quickly, building prototypes to demonstrate value, while learning to deliver production grade software to meet the standards and requirements of Kablamo's enterprise and government customers.
We're looking for someone with solid software engineering fundamentals and a passion for GenAI. You don't need to know everything, but you do need the aptitude to learn fast and the initiative to solve problems. You'll receive guidance and mentorship from senior engineers, and over time you'll develop depth across the full range of GenAI engineering practices.
Responsibilities
* Contributes towards building GenAI applications by utilising LLM providers via cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS) and best-in-class AI tools and solutions. Solutions can range from rapid prototypes and pilots through to contributions to client production systems.
* Participates in GenAI driven software development projects, balancing speed of delivery with quality and security outcomes
* Develops knowledge, skills and best practices with GenAI software development tools, such as Claude Code and Cursor
* Applies prompt engineering and context management techniques to improve LLM output quality, delivering accurate, safe, and relevant outputs
* Rapidly prototypes solutions to validate ideas and demonstrate capability to stakeholders
* Contributes to production client work under the guidance of senior engineers
* Writes and maintain basic evaluations/scripts to measure and improve GenAI application performance
* Collaborates with other engineers to solve problems, share knowledge, and deliver work on time
* Stays up-to-date with the fast-moving GenAI landscape and brings new ideas to the team
* Documents work, including design decisions and lessons learned
* Uses AI responsibly, safely and securely, in line with Kablamo's and our clients' policies
* Contributes to Kablamo's internal knowledge base, templates, and best practices for GenAI engineering
* Presents work alongside team members to internal stakeholders and clients.
Required skills and experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
* Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: you can build a REST API, query a database, write tests, and use version control
* Demonstrated experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, and/or building GenAI applications (professional, academic, or personal projects)
* Passion and curiosity for GenAI, as evidenced by learning and practical applications
* Experience working effectively in team environments, whether leading or contributing
* Strong written and verbal communication skills—you can explain your work clearly and ask good questions
* Commitment to responsible AI principles: ethics, safety, security
* Has completed relevant internships whilst at University and/or has some software engineering work experience (we welcome graduate applicants)
* Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
* Knowledge of foundational AI frameworks, such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI etc
* Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude)
