Your new role
As an Assistant Director - Financial Reporting (EL1), you will be a key technical leader within the finance function, responsible for delivering high‑quality financial accounting, statutory reporting and compliance outcomes.
You will oversee the preparation of financial statements, manage audit processes and lead taxation, asset management, investment and treasury activities. Acting as a trusted advisor, you'll provide clear technical guidance on accounting standards, legislation, policies and financial systems to a broad range of stakeholders.
Beyond core reporting, the role plays a pivotal part in improving financial processes and controls, supporting executive reporting and contributing to strategic and operational planning. You'll also lead, mentor and develop staff, driving capability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this EL1 Assistant Director - Financial Reporting role, you will bring:
* Strong experience across financial accounting, external reporting and audit at the EL1 level in federal government
* In‑depth knowledge of Australian Government financial and taxation frameworks
* Demonstrated capability in accounting policy, compliance and complex issue resolution
* Experience with investment and treasury management
* CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent)
* Proven leadership experience, including coaching and performance management
* Strong written, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
* Baseline security clearance
