Overview
Bakers Delight Port Central is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Baker to join our bakery team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about producing high-quality bread and baked goods, takes pride in their work, and can thrive in a fast-paced retail bakery environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, mix, knead, mould, ferment, proof, bake, and finish a wide range of breads and baked products in line with recipes and production schedules
* Weigh and measure ingredients accurately to maintain consistency and product quality
* Operate bakery equipment including mixers, dividers, moulders, proofers, ovens, and slicers safely and efficiently
* Monitor dough development, proving conditions, oven temperatures, and baking times to ensure products meet quality standards
* Shape and finish dough by hand and machine for a variety of bread products
* Maintain product presentation and ensure bakery displays are stocked with fresh goods
* Carry out daily cleaning of equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements
* Check raw materials and baked products for quality, freshness, and consistency
* Assist with stock control, rotation of ingredients, and minimisation of wastage
* Work cooperatively with the bakery team to meet production targets and customer demand
Requirements
* Relevant qualification in baking or at least 3 years of relevant work experience
* Experience in bread production within a commercial or retail bakery environment
* Sound knowledge of dough preparation, fermentation, proofing, and baking techniques
* Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays as required
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety practices
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a team environment
* AQF Certificate III in Baking or equivalent qualification OR minimum 3–5 years' relevant commercial baking experience
* Proven experience in artisan and commercial bread production; strong understanding of dough fermentation, baking processes, and quality control
* Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards

Salary: $73,150 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation
