Providing Mental Health Support to Military Members
The role of the Psychologist is a key position in the health centre, providing mental health support to military members. The psychologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting the diverse mental health needs of military members.
Referrals will come from a variety of sources; the member, medical team and Command, offering diversity in presentations and support requests. The support offered begins with initial intake and assessment with flexibility to accommodate presenting need. There is scope for the use of psychometrics and engagement in treatment that capitalises on skills, interests and scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
* To provide comprehensive mental health assessments and deliver a range of evidence-based 'Focussed Psychological Strategies' as defined under the Medicare Schedule.
* Manage caseloads including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and the provision of internal treatment to Defence members.
* Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans within a multi-disciplinary team.
Qualifications and experience required include current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and minimum 2 years post graduate experience in the last 5 years in mental health in a primary health or specialist mental health setting.

About the Centre
Kuttabul Health Centre is located on HMAS Kuttabul in Potts Point and has been host to a naval base since 1856. It provides primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, outpatients, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy services to the ADF population.
