The Role
Within the ICT Security function, an APS 6 ICT Security Specialist is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex information security work within an integrated workforce. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence mission and policy requirements.
An APS 6 ICT Security Specialist works independently with reasonable autonomy and accountability for their outcomes. They exercise initiative and judgment in interpreting policies and applying practices and procedures.
They provide detailed technical, professional, and policy advice related to complex work, contributing to strategic planning, program and project management, and policy development. They may lead or coach a team, setting work priorities and managing workflows.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration known as the Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), which provides a premium in addition to the base salary for positions critical to Defence capability. For more information, contact the designated officer.

The Air Force Test Ranges Squadron provides a secure 'Advanced Test and Training Environment' (ATTE) supporting government activities, testing war materiel, and Force Generation (FORGEN) for the ADF, allies, and foreign partners.
The ICT Security Specialist collaborates with Range management and system administrators to apply security controls that ensure the highest possible level of ICT security and cyber assuredness.
