About the Role
As a casual Social Worker, you'll be a valued member of the Women's Social Work team supporting specialist clinics. A casual staff member you will be expected to work weekdays during business hours, ideally 2–3 days or more if possible. Your duties will include ensuring continuous care and support for patients and families throughout admission, providing bereavement support, managing child protection issues and family violence risk, assessing patient needs, coordinating resources, facilitating communication among patients, clinicians and medical staff, and assisting with discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide quality patient‐focused care to patients, carers and communities through culturally safe, competent, evidence‐based clinical skills, including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, short‐term counselling, bereavement care, advocacy, community liaison, referral and discharge planning.
* Involve patients, carers and significant others in medical treatment decision‐making and care plans, treatment goals and discharge plans as per the patient's wishes.
* Provide appropriate secondary consultation and support to clinicians regarding child and family risk issues to achieve high‐quality and safe outcomes.
* Work closely with the multidisciplinary team involved in the care of women and their families to achieve the desired patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualifications as a Social Worker with 3–5 years post‐qualification experience, and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Demonstrated high level of understanding of trauma‐informed care when working with survivors of family violence and sexual assault.
* Experience and ability to work autonomously and provide a range of interventions to patients and families in crisis situations, including family violence, child protection, trauma and bereavement.
* Advanced time‐management, administrative and organisational skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team setting.
