Job Description
We're looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused Barista to join our team at Fountain Gate in Narre Warren, Australia. In this role, you will be the face of our café, crafting high-quality beverages and creating memorable experiences for our customers. You'll work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail and genuine hospitality are essential. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in coffee preparation with exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
* Prepare and serve espresso-based beverages, specialty coffees, and other drinks with precision and consistency
* Operate and maintain espresso machines and other café equipment to ensure optimal performance
* Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing personalized recommendations based on customer preferences
* Maintain a clean and organized work station, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
* Process transactions using the point-of-sale system and handle cash with accuracy
* Build positive relationships with customers through friendly and empathetic interactions
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations during peak and off-peak hours
* Customize beverages to meet individual customer requirements and dietary needs
* Restock supplies and manage inventory as needed
* Contribute to a welcoming café atmosphere that encourages repeat business
Qualifications
* Proven experience operating espresso machines and preparing specialty coffee beverages
* Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain friendly and patient in high-volume environments
* Excellent time management and organizational abilities
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
* Solid interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality in beverage preparation
* Preferred: Barista certification or formal coffee training
* Preferred: Previous experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment
* Preferred: Knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, and flavor characteristics
