You will be responsible for managing servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across a diverse range of construction and industrial equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong mechanical knowledge, organisation skills and the ability to drive safety, efficiency and quality standards. This position suits an experienced Leading Hand, Senior Mechanic or current Workshop Manager ready to take ownership of workshop performance. Key Responsibilities Workshop Operations * Oversee day-to-day workshop workflow and job allocation * Ensure equipment is serviced, maintained and repaired to high standards * Manage preventative maintenance schedules * Monitor turnaround times and workshop efficiency * Maintain quality control and testing standards Team Leadership * Supervise and mentor workshop technicians * Coordinate workloads and performance expectations * Promote accountability, safety and teamwork * Assist with recruitment and onboarding where required Technical Oversight * Support fault-finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems * Review repair reports and technical documentation * Coordinate parts ordering and inventory control * Liaise with suppliers and external service providers Safety & Compliance * Enforce WHS procedures and workshop safety standards * Maintain service records and compliance documentation * Ensure workshop cleanliness and operational standards Skills & Experience Essential * Previous experience as Workshop Manager or Senior Leading Hand * Strong mechanical background (diesel, plant or heavy equipment) * Proven ability to manage workshop operations * Strong organisational and leadership skills * Excellent problem-solving ability * Current Driver's Licence Highly Regarded * Trade qualification (Heavy Diesel / Plant / Mechanical) * Forklift or relevant plant tickets * Experience managing workshop KPIs and performance metrics Benefits & Perks * $110,000 - $130,000 super * Full-time permanent role * Leadership position with operational autonomy * Stable Canberra-based operation * Long-term career opportunity About the company The employer is a well-established Canberra-based construction services business operating a large workshop facility supporting a diverse range of industrial and construction equipment.
