This is a great role for an experienced Account Director (or SAM looking to step up) with a minimum of five years' experience in PR driving coverage in the Australian (and ideally New Zealand) media landscape. Managing a portfolio of tourism accounts, including Oceania Cruises, LATAM Airlines, Hurtigruten and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, focusing on client service and team management to achieve results and client satisfaction.
GTI is looking for a high‑achieving, outgoing candidate who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment. As Account Director, this role is responsible for building senior‑level partnerships with media, content partners and clients, as well as building and mentoring account teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Working with the GAD/MD on the development of creative and strategic PR programs that achieve client objectives
* Leadership and effective management of PR team members
* Manage key client relationships and ensure the team delivers excellent PR client service and results
* Build and maintain professional relationships with industry and media across verticals
* Ensure the commercial success of your nominated accounts
* Contribute to new business tenders as required
* Contribute to team management, agency process and team culture
* Support GTI to meet the company's purpose and mission by contributing to initiatives as outlined in GTI's sustainability action plan
* Write, edit and approve media materials as required
* Host and speak at creative events, from smaller lunches to glitzy cocktail events
* Ideate, plan, coordinate and host (if required) media and influencer famils
Agency responsibilities
* Be a fantastic ambassador for GTI, striving to deliver exceptional client service
* Be innovative, incredibly organised and a great team player, sharing knowledge within the sales and marketing team and working collaboratively with public relations colleagues
* Identify ways to achieve team efficiency and positively contributing to team culture
* Support GTI to meet the company's purpose and mission by contributing to initiatives as outlined in GTI's sustainability action plan
* Contribute to PR strategies for clients and business development opportunities
* Fulfil personal and team timekeeping requirements that are part of agency life and be comfortable with account management including resourcing, client scoping, KPI setting, etc.
Skills, knowledge & experience
This role would suit someone who has:
* Relevant tertiary education in marketing/communications/PR
* Proven successful day‑to‑day management of PR and influencer campaigns involving multiple stakeholders
* A track record of implementing creative PR strategies and campaigns and selling these into clients
* Can provide guidance and instruction to PR team members to achieve successful campaigns
* Excellent client rapport and relationship management skills
* Previous experience in people management and leadership in a busy agency environment
* Strong organisational skills to manage multiple client and agency priorities simultaneously
* Campaign management and evaluation
* Understanding of agency financials
* A solid understanding of the travel and lifestyle sector
* Experience working within and excellent knowledge of the Australian and New Zealand media
