Role Purpose:
Our ATSILS Hervey Bay Office is seeking a Regional Manager with experience in Criminal Law who is passionate about social justice. This role requires an experienced senior legal professional to lead and continue to develop a diverse legal team while providing expert legal services to clients with criminal law requirements.
Role Requirements:
* Ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people are provided with conscientious, culturally safe, ethical and enthusiastic representation within the criminal justice system.
* Attend mentions/call overs; make bail applications (including Supreme Court bail applications as required); and present submissions in mitigation of sentence.
* Participate in circuit court rosters, (including pre-court circuits), provide on-call duties, and
* Saturday/Public Holiday courts as required to ensure "24/7" services.
* Effectively supervise personnel at the regional office (including those in any satellite locations) in accordance with ATSILS' policies and procedures.
* Undertake study or training which might, from time to time be determined by the Executive, and contribute to the professional development of other team-members (including Administrative, Early Intervention/specialist staff, and Court Support/Field Officers) as required.
About You:
* You must be admitted as a Legal Practitioner in Queensland and hold (or be eligible for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate.
* Must be the holder (or be eligible for immediate application) of a current Queensland Government Blue Card prior to commencing work.
* Demonstrated management experience with a constructive and prompt approach to organisational needs with compliance, safety and security and the developmental interests of team members.
* You will demonstrate a high level of professional service in all aspects of Criminal Law, covering both adult and youth jurisdictions.
* A current Driver Licence and willingness to drive for work are essential.
* Ideally, you will have a minimum of five years full-time post-admission experience, resilience to handle complex cases, and the ability to develop culturally sensitive service skills.
