Your New Role

The Legal & Company Secretariat team partners across the enterprise to provide timely, accurate advice and to influence the business toward the right, compliant outcomes. In this role, you'll report to the Deputy Company Secretary and contribute to all aspects of the Company Secretary division at Aware Super. In addition your responsibilities include:

- Company Secretariat support: Provide end‑to‑end secretariat services to the Board, Committees and wholly owned entities, ensuring timely support and compliance with legal, statutory and licensing obligations. Manage director appointments, onboarding/induction, renewal, performance and training
- Governance stewardship: Maintain and enhance governance frameworks, charters, policies, procedures, registers and delegations. Lead regular reviews, propose improvements, secure approvals and champion adoption staying across developments in corporate governance, law, policy and regulation
- Commercial and corporate legal work: Review, negotiate and finalise a range of legal documents (including contracts, SLAs, disclosure and confidentiality agreements) to meet legal requirements and business objectives; provide or source advice across superannuation, managed investment schemes, the Corporations Act and AFSL obligations
- Team leadership and collaboration: Guide and support Legal & Company Secretary Administrators; foster a supportive, high‑performing, collaborative team culture; work cross‑functionally (including projects) as a trusted advisor to drive outcomes

- You will have a tertiary law qualification and admission to practice as a solicitor in Australia
- Proven experience in company secretariat services and governance within financial services, with sound knowledge of the Corporations Act and SIS Act
- Strong influence and stakeholder skills; sound judgement and tact with sensitive matters
- Excellent planning, project and task management, ability to juggle high volumes, set realistic timeframes and meet tight deadlines
- Be a collaborative teammate who also works independently, takes initiative and communicates progress clearly
- You are balanced in accepting risk in any decision you face. You are curious to understand risk context and choose to speak up as we simplify, learn and grow.
