Role Highlights
The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health is seeking a Clinical Educator for Nursing. This role plays a vital part in enhancing rural clinical training experiences for nursing students.
The successful candidate will oversee the placement of nursing students, provide direct support and guidance, lead professional development initiatives, assess and improve educational programs, and engage with stakeholders to enhance nursing education and culturally responsive healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate nursing student placements in clinical settings to ensure enriching experiences and monitor their progress.
* Provide mentorship and support during placements while maintaining high educational standards.
* Develop and implement professional development initiatives for nurse supervisors and foster collaboration among clinical educators.
* Evaluate and enhance educational programs through feedback and quality improvement initiatives.
* Engage with relevant stakeholders to advance nursing education and culturally responsive healthcare practices.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* A degree in a relevant field (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing).
* Proven teaching skills and effective clinical supervision and mentorship across multiple settings.
* A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice, with the ability to design and implement clinical training programs for nursing health science students.
* Experience in unit coordination and training sessions to enhance clinical education practices.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a commitment to a collegial and supportive working environment and cross-cultural sensitivity.
* Ability to apply relevant policies, procedures, and legislation in daily performance of the role.
* Strong professional networks and capacity to develop new collaborative relationships with industry partners.
* Experience in Aboriginal and rural and remote health is essential.
* Understanding of the healthcare environment and workforce challenges within the Goldfields – Esperance region is desirable but not essential.
