Hussey Corp is a locally owned and operated business based in Cairns and Weipa QLD who deliver a wide range of services expanding from Heavy Industrial Electrical, Civil Construction, Construction Project Management, Civil Concrete Construction and Plant & Equipment Hire.
We are seeking an experienced Recruitment and Labour Hire Coordinator to manage end‐to‐end recruitment and labour hire activities in a fast‐paced operational environment. This role is critical in ensuring we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time — while remaining compliant, cost‐effective, and responsive to business needs.
You will be the central link between hiring managers, labour hire providers, candidates, and internal HR and payroll teams.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment
Coordinate end‐to‐end recruitment for permanent, fixed‐term, casual, and labour hire roles
· Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements and timelines
· Prepare job advertisements and manage application processes
· Screen candidates, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate interviews
· Manage onboarding, inductions, and site access requirements
Labour Hire Coordination
· Manage relationships with approved labour hire providers
· Book and confirm labour hire workers to meet operational demands
· Ensure labour hire rates, agreements, and terms are current and approved
· Monitor labour hire usage and costs against budget
· Ensure all labour hire workers meet WHS, licensing, and compliance requirements
Compliance & Reporting
· Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, Awards, WHS, and labour hire obligations
· Coordinate pre‐employment checks (medical, police checks, licences, tickets)
· Maintain accurate workforce and recruitment records
· Prepare reports on vacancies, time‐to‐fill, labour hire usage, and compliance
Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as the first point of contact for recruitment and labour hire enquiries
* Build strong relationships with site managers, supervisors, and external providers
* Respond quickly to urgent workforce needs and changes
About You
You're organised, proactive, and thrive in a high‐volume environment. You communicate confidently, manage competing priorities well, and understand the importance of compliance and consistency.
You will bring:
· Experience in recruitment, workforce coordination, or labour hire
· Demonstrated experience working with labour hire agencies
· Knowledge of Australian employment legislation and modern awards
· Strong administration and coordination skills
Highly regarded:
· Experience in construction, and mining
· HR or related tertiary qualification
