About the Position

The Brisbane based Finance function includes a timely and accurate payments service, Statutory and Management accounting functions, General Ledger reconciliation and the provision of high-level support to all Firstmac Departments.

This role will hold responsibility for financial and statutory reporting requirements along with the development and production of management reporting information.

We can offer a hybrid and flexible working arrangement with a mix of work being performed from home and the office.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare annual audited statutory accounts for the consolidated group and individual entities within the group
* Liaise with external auditors to facilitate completion of annual audit
* Collaborate with external tax advisors to manage the organisation's tax compliance requirements, ensuring accurate interpretation of tax legislation, timely completion of tax filings, and effective resolution of any tax-related queries.
* Prepare and review monthly and quarterly BAS, ABS/APRA reports, and other tax related returns
* Manage month end process, including preparation of month end reconciliations, journals and management accounts for the consolidated group
* Preparation of management reporting including expense reporting and income streams analysis
* Assist in the preparation of hedge accounting documentation and testing
* Maintain Treasury management system accounting ledger and static data
* Prepare monthly cashflow forecasts as required by ASFL
* Research, understand and document new accounting issues as they arise and understand the impact new products / business opportunities will have on accounting systems and processes and recommend workable solutions.

About you

You will possess and an accounting degree with professional accounting qualifications with the CA or CPA along with 10+ years of proven experience in preparation of year end audited statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards in a commercial setting. Experience with corporate taxation, including GST, FBT, PAYG and income tax reporting and implementing or improving financial controls, processes, and compliance frameworks will be key to your success. Exposure to financial markets and hedge accounting concepts would be preferable but not a pre-requisite.

Some other key skills and abilities we are seeking are listed below;

* Ability to liaise with external auditors and tax consultants supporting audit processes and ensuring tax compliance obligations are met
* Strong understanding of accounting systems and ERP platforms, Microsoft Dynamics preferable but not essential
* Well-developed oral and written communication skills, interpersonal, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and organisations
* Possess a good eye for detail with the ability to focus on specific information and identify errors with the ability to follow up on outstanding issues with a willingness to take responsibility for issues until a resolution is sought
* Must be adaptable to change and respond to challenges in a changing environment.
