Seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to assist a small project at a government health org in East Perth

An prospect has arisen for an experienced Clinical Coder to join a State Government health department in East Perth. This role is for an immediate start on a part-time basis (3 days), on a 2-month temporary contract.
**Your new role**
We are looking for a Clinical Coder to join the health information management team. As a Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing coronial findings, police reports and medical reports to code a set of data variables based on the information in the documents, including physical health and mental health conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Review patients' medical records and identify diagnoses, procedures, and other relevant information
- Assign codes to diagnosis and procedures using the required manuals and coding standards
- Ensure that codes are accurate, complete, and compliant with coding guidelines and regulations
- Query clinicians for clarification or additional documentation when needed
- Maintain coding books and software and keep up to date with coding changes and updates
- Participate in coding audits, quality improvement initiatives, and education sessions
- Collaborate with other coders, health information managers, and clinical staff to resolve coding issues and queries
**What you'll need to succeed**-
- Clinical coders need to attend the Department of Justice buildings together to review the coronial files and code the enhanced data elements into the WA Suicide Monitoring System.- **What you'll get in return**
