Your Employer
Our client is a long-established, family-run vegetable growing business operating in Langhorne Creek & Hay Valley, South Australia. The operation is vertically integrated, producing premium Brussels sprouts alongside carrots and potatoes across two sites year-round. The business maintains a large fleet of modern agricultural machinery, supported by a central workshop at Hay Valley. To strengthen mechanical coverage across both sites, a skilled Diesel Mechanic is required to join their team in Langhorne Creek.
The Role
This is a hands-on, farm-based mechanical role responsible for maintaining and repairing diverse farm machinery, whilst supporting wider farming operations when needed. Offering strong variety beyond purely workshop-based mechanical work, this role allows the opportunity to operate heavy ag-machinery and assist with other engineering works as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and repair agricultural machinery and mechanical systems
* Assist with machinery operation (e.g. spray rigs) and general farm tasks
* Conduct preventative maintenance across tractors, implements, and equipment
* Assist with custom fabrication and modification of farm machinery
* Support irrigation systems, pumps, and farm infrastructure maintenance
About You
You are a practical, self-sufficient Diesel Mechanic who enjoys working autonomously in a field-based environment. You take ownership of your work, can problem-solve on the go, and are comfortable stepping into broader farm operations when required. Key criteria include:
* Relevant mechanical trade qualification
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability
* Ability to work autonomously in field conditions
* Experience with agricultural or mobile plant machinery
* Willingness to support seasonal farm operations
* Full Australian working rights and open driver's licence
The Benefits:
This role offers a long-term opportunity within a stable and growing agribusiness, combining mechanical work with operational variety. It's suited to someone seeking lifestyle balance and meaningful involvement in farm operations. Benefits include:
* Flexible roster arrangement (e.g. 4-day work week)
* Limited weekend work (standard M-F | 7am-4pm operation)
* Diverse exposure on advanced hort-machinery
* Routine pay reviews and career progression
* Potential relocation support for non-local applicants
* Varied, non-repetitive role across mechanical and farm operations
* Supportive, down-to-earth team environment
