Overview
As part of our Capability Delivery & Sustainment (CD&S) team, the Field Services Team Lead will provide ongoing support, preventative and corrective maintenance, and upgrades of communications systems, such as HF, V/UHF, Secure Voice, SATCOM, antennas and Network subsystems for ship and shore installations.
Responsibilities
* Leading the Naval Field Services team
* Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on communications equipment, antennas and associated cabling/feeder systems to the Lowest Replaceable Unit (LRU), alongside configuration and troubleshooting of related software across multiple platforms.
* Assist engineering teams in the successful setting to work of platforms, providing technical support and ensuring adherence to established procedures.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on technical maintenance and support activities to develop solutions and assist in resolving technical, maintenance and support requests and directing unresolved issues to the appropriate channels.
* Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation – including post‑activity reports, completion reports, system and sub‑system specifications – to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
* Ensure strict adherence to approved work practices and all relevant Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures, with specific responsibility for ESD prevention, electronic equipment handling, and safe working at heights.
* Participate in and support the assembly, installation, test, and commissioning of systems and products.
* Review activities to ensure compliance with R&S and customer plans, procedures, and regulations.
* Pro‑actively manage customer expectations regarding incident and service request resolutions.
* Maintain an on‑site presence at the customer facility to facilitate timely resolution of maintenance tasks and follow‑up customer engagements.
Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Electrotechnology and Communications or equivalent qualification.
* Experience with the repair and maintenance of communication systems, including but not limited to HF, VHF, UHF Radio Systems, SATCOM Systems, Secure Voice and Cryptographic Systems, IT Infrastructure, including network and desktop hardware, configuration and management of software applications.
* Previous experience working within Defence.
* Previous experience working onboard Maritime Platforms.
