The role involves performing various laboratory investigations and tests, including manual and automated procedures. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for applying established methods and protocols to prepare materials and maintain equipment in line with laboratory processes.
You will work in a team environment, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines and delivering results within specified timeframes. Effective communication skills are essential, as you will interact with customers, patients, and clinical laboratory staff.
Qualifications include a minimum of a Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution. Relevant knowledge and experience in pathology services, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, and Quality Systems, are also required.
