An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Procurement Manager to play a key role in both the strategic sourcing of suppliers and materials within a complex, engineering-led environment supporting critical capability delivery.
This position will see you take ownership of end-to-end sourcing activities — from hands-on procurement of make-to-order items through to developing supplier strategy and managing vendor performance across a global supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Manage sourcing and procurement activities for make-to-order materials and components, ensuring alignment with production requirements.
* Analyse engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials to support RFQs and supplier selection.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, both locally and internationally.
* Drive supplier performance, including lead times, quality, and delivery, and act as an escalation point for vendor issues.
* Contribute to the development and execution of sourcing strategies to improve supply chain efficiency and resilience.
* Work closely with production planning teams to ensure stock levels and supply timelines meet operational requirements.
* Monitor and negotiate vendor lead times, updating systems and stakeholders accordingly.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, supplier management, and supply chain processes.
* Utilise ERP/MRP systems for quotation management, purchasing, and vendor performance tracking.
Skills & Experience
* Extensive experience in sourcing and procurement within a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment.
* Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.
* Proven experience managing both operational procurement and strategic supplier relationships.
* Experience working with ERP and MRP systems.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to negotiate and manage supplier performance.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing or related qualification.
* APICS (CSCP/CPIM) and/or CIPS qualifications highly regarded.
* Must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain a Defence Security Clearance.
