We are currently seeking a Tyre Fitter at our Coppabella Moorvale Joint Venture (CMJV) – Coppabella Mine. Our CMJV mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverized coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.
About the role:
As an OTR Tyre Fitter, you’ll play a vital role on the maintenance team by ensuring equipment is operationally ready to meet production targets. Reporting to the Tyre Bay Supervisor, you’ll deliver a safety-focused and high-quality service to Peabody’s mining equipment, helping to keep our fleet running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
* Mechanical maintenance and tyre repairs on light, medium, and heavy vehicles performed in a safe and productive manner;
* Tread depth measurements, pressure readings, and inspections on all heavy earthmoving Mobile Equipment;
* Actively participate in effective shift changeovers and shift Pre-Starts;
* Complete a detailed written handover at the end of each shift;
* Be an active participant in the Continuous Improvement Program;
* Conduct site hazard reports;
* Minimise production downtime in the event of breakdowns and scheduled maintenance by using effective shift planning techniques.
The lifestyle:
This position is offered on a 7/7 roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah or Nebo), DIDO, or FIFO lifestyle. Camp accommodation is provided. Employees residing locally may be eligible for the Living Away From Home or Accommodation Assistance allowance, depending on circumstances.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
* A proactive approach to safety and quality in the workplace.
* Experience in Tyre Maintenance Systems.
* OTR tyre fitting experience in the mining industry (preferred) or significant experience in light and medium vehicle tyre fitting;
* Cert 2 in Heavy Vehicle Tyre Fitting (desirable);
* RII’s or equivalent competencies would be highly desirable for Light, Heavy and Off the Road/Earthmoving vehicles including:
o Select tyres and wheels for specific applications;
o Remove, inspect, repair and refit tyres and tubes;
o Remove, inspect and refit wheel and tyre assemblies.
* Forklift license.
