About us
The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP) is the peak body for youth justice and child protection in Queensland. Along with our 38 member organisations and partners, we are committed to creating positive futures for children, young people, families and communities.
By sharing our collective knowledge and experience, we can all make a positive impact on policies and practices to stop the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in Queensland's child protection and youth justice systems.
About the role
The Policy Officer role will support the design, development and implementation of new and rigorous processes that will enable the organisation to effectively meet its strategic objectives and lead the major reform of the child protection system that is occurring in Queensland. This will include supporting the implementation of the government's commitment to transferring all services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families from non-Indigenous organisations to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled organisations by 2032. This commitment has a state-wide approach but with a regional focus, therefore this role does require travel.
The Policy Officer, in conjunction with the Change Lead and Manager of Strategic Reform, will work to identify the elements of success required to achieve the reform, establish clear and meaningful performance measures, track performance and design actions to support the organisation in meeting their success indicators. The role will contribute significantly to QATSICPP's approach to ensuring Queensland is on track to achieve the targets in their Strategic Plan, Close the Gap and other advocacy programs undertaken by QATSICPP within priority areas.
