ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and passionate Responsible Sourcing Manager to join our team in Blackburn.
Reporting to the General Manager Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, the role will engage and influence suppliers to adopt responsible practices and support The Salvation Army's social sustainability goals and objectives. This position also plays a key part in helping the organisation to embed responsible sourcing in its day to day purchasing activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with the highest standards of responsible sourcing, keeping The Salvation Army ahead of legal requirements and industry expectations. Completion of The Salvation Army annual Modern Slavery statement is also a key deliverable of the role.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Drive research and strategic collaboration with key stakeholders to inform and mitigate risks related to modern slavery and human rights abuses.
- Strategic Partnerships: Lead our partnership with the Issara Institute, driving initiatives such as supplier engagement, onboarding, supply chain mapping, and worker-led monitoring and remediation efforts.
- Supplier Engagement: Work closely with strategic suppliers to set clear expectations on modern slavery and rights violations. Provide training, capacity building, and host annual forums to encourage the adoption of responsible sourcing practices.
- Supplier Vetting: Assist in the vetting of potential and renewing suppliers through the Responsible Sourcing Supplier Questionnaire and maintain our Responsible Sourcing Toolkit.
ABOUT YOU
To be considered in this role you will have a substantial experience and strong knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act and equivalent frameworks.
Key Capabilities:
- Tertiary qualifications preferred, in business, operational or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in sustainability, human rights, and/or responsible sourcing.
- Strong knowledge of the Commonwealth Modern Slavery Act and equivalent frameworks.
- Experience working within, or in collaboration with, procurement teams and familiarity with procurement approaches for infrastructure, resource or energy projects.
