The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of the day‐to‐day performance of a major transport depot, ensuring a safe, compliant and commercially efficient operation.
This is a hands‐on leadership role overseeing all core business functions including:
* Transport operations and scheduling
* Compliance (NHVAS, DG, WHS)
* Workshop and fleet maintenance
* Payroll and accounts oversight
* Workforce planning, recruitment and retention
You will play a key role in driving operational performance, optimising fleet utilisation, and maintaining high service standards across a diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and promote a strong safety‐first culture across all site activities
* Ensure full compliance with relevant transport regulations, including fatigue, mass and dangerous goods
* Oversee workshop performance to maintain fleet reliability and presentation standards
* Manage site financials including payroll coordination and operational cost control
* Drive efficient scheduling and resource allocation to meet customer demand
* Build, lead and retain a high‐performing team across operations and support functions
* Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
About You
* Proven leadership experience within transport, logistics or a similar heavy industry environment
* Strong understanding of dangerous goods and/or food‐grade bulk transport (highly regarded)
* Demonstrated experience managing large teams in a multi‐functional depot environment
* Solid knowledge of compliance frameworks (NHVAS, WHS, fatigue management)
* Commercially astute with exposure to budgets, cost control or P & L responsibilities
* Highly organised with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
