Our client, an established mechanical and electrical contractor, is seeking a talented CAD Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis, to work on a variety of refurbishment, retail and commercial projects. This is an amazing opportunity to work on‑site from our client's office, located near Southampton, allowing the successful candidate to grow and develop their professional portfolio across a range of complex projects.
Competitive salary ranging between £30,000 and £50,000 (subject to experience). Company pension scheme, on‑site working arrangement, generous annual leave and ongoing career development opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Create and develop in‑depth drawings for mechanical and electrical systems, using CAD and/or BIM software tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
* Establish detailed specifications and ensure accurate material selection, focusing on cable sizing, lighting design and other electrical systems.
* Develop and maintain concise Revit designs and models for a variety of refurbishment, retail and commercial projects.
* Liaise with project professionals – site teams, engineers and other stakeholders – ensuring alignment with site requirements and effective query resolution.
* Assemble, maintain and deliver up‑to‑date documentation, reports, drawings, calculations and packages, ensuring a smooth project handover.
* Ensure all works comply with current building and industry regulations, specifications, client requirements and relevant standards.
Requirements
* Demonstrable experience as a CAD Engineer or in a similar role, operating on complex commercial, retail and refurbishment projects.
* Significant technical background, with the ability to develop detailed mechanical and electrical drawings using relevant software tools such as AutoCAD and Revit.
* Strong understanding of current industry and building regulations, key legislation, industry best practices and design standards.
* Effective communication, multitasking and organisational skills, with a strong attention to detail.
