About The Role
We’re seeking an experienced and technically capable Material Engineer to join our high-performing Technical Office team on the SSTOM Project. Based in Orchard Hills, you will be responsible for the management, compliance, and performance validation of permanent materials proposed for use on the project. This is a critical engineering role, ensuring that all materials align with the project’s stringent quality, durability, lifecycle, and sustainability requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Review and approve permanent materials for use on the SSTOM Project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
* Collaborate with construction and delivery teams to recommend and verify appropriate material selections.
* Analyse material performance and conduct failure analysis to resolve quality or compliance issues.
* Maintain a comprehensive register of all approved permanent materials used on the project.
* Contribute to lifecycle and cost-effectiveness assessments of materials.
* Provide technical support and leadership in material compliance and reporting processes.
* Assist with development of quality assurance documentation related to material control, as required.
* Promote and support the use of sustainable and environmentally responsible materials across the project.
What We’re Looking For:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Materials Science.
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in material engineering or related technical roles on infrastructure or construction projects.
* Deep knowledge of material properties, testing methods, and engineering standards.
* Understanding of lifecycle cost analysis, sustainability, and material durability.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
* Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and with construction personnel.
* Familiarity with quality management systems and document control processes.
* Working knowledge of WHS responsibilities and safety-first project environments.
