Casual Early Childhood Educator (Montessori Setting, Ages 1–6)

Founded in 1973, Elonera Montessori School is an independent co-educational school providing quality education from 12 months to 18 years. Located near the coast in the beautiful Wollongong region, our school offers a nurturing, child-centred environment grounded in Montessori principles.
Our Early Years program supports children aged 1–6 years and operates 48 weeks per year between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
About the Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and caring Casual Early Childhood Educators (Certificate III or Diploma qualified, or working towards) to support our Montessori classrooms.
This role involves working collaboratively with teachers and families to provide a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment that supports children's independence, development, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist classroom teachers in the daily running of Montessori environments
* Support the learning and development of children aged 1–6 years
* Contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
* Observe and document children's learning and development
* Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative planning
Essential Criteria
* Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or currently working towards)
* Experience working with young children
* Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
* Sound understanding of child safety and commitment to safeguarding children
* Knowledge of the EYLF and National Quality Framework (NQF)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Professional, reliable, and team-oriented approach
* Willingness to learn about and work within the Montessori philosophy
* Valid Australian work eligibility or appropriate work visa
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in early childhood settings (particularly with children aged 1–6 years)
* Knowledge of, or training in, Montessori education
