Events Officer

About the Role
As the Events Officer, you\'ll be at the heart of delivering Council-led festivals and events that celebrate the vibrancy of our region. From large-scale outdoor festivals to pop-up activations at our iconic City Oval Stage and Riverfront Meeting Place, you\'ll bring energy, creativity, and coordination skills to ensure every event is successful, safe, and engaging.
This role is also key in supporting community-led events offering your professional guidance, reviewing event applications, and ensuring the events calendar is always buzzing with activity.
What You'll Do
Plan and deliver engaging Council-run festivals and events
Liaise with performers, contractors, and internal teams to bring events to life
Provide support and specialist advice to community event organisers
Collaborate with Media & Communications to promote events across platforms
Evaluate and improve events through community feedback and data
Ensure all events meet compliance, OH&S;, and risk management standards
About You
You're either a recent Event Management Graduate with drive and creativity, or you bring hands-on experience from working on events in a community or council context. You\'ll be a confident communicator, a born organiser, and someone who thrives under pressure especially when an event is about to go live!
What you bring
Tertiary qualification in Event Management (or related field)
Experience coordinating public or community events
Strong understanding of risk management and safety protocols
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and planning skills
Ability to work collaboratively across internal departments and community groups
A valid Victorian Driver\'s Licence and a Working with Children Check
