Primary objective

Provide support to inpatients by ensuring correct use of self or hospital-owned CPAP devices, including proper mask fitting, machine operation, adjustment of pressure setting according to prescription, and troubleshooting common issues. The Clinical Technician (CPAP) will work closely with sleep specialists, medical specialists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and safe and effective CPAP therapy.

Key duties and responsibilities
* Prepare for and undertake clinical tasks under the direction and delegation of the clinical team relating to the fitting and functional use of CPAP for inpatients.
* Ensure NT Health CPAP equipment is in good working order and maintenance schedules are adhered.
* Contribute to the quality improvement initiatives relating to CPAP usage and ongoing follow up.
* Maintain regular CPAP stock audit, including consumables.
* Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
* Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.
Selection criteria

Essential

* Demonstrated relevant experience in a field of technical work closely related to the duties of the vacancy.
* Demonstrated understanding of multicultural differences and the impacts on health outcomes.
* Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills, negotiation, and conflict management skills, with experience working in a team environment to achieve positive health outcomes.
* Ability to work under direction and instruction to assist health professionals provide high quality services.
* Ability to think laterally and problem solve independently with initiative and demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
* Working experience with clients and consumers within a health, aged care, or disability setting.
* Upholds a high level of personal integrity, confidentiality, adaptability, and the ability to interact with diverse cultures.

Desirable

* Certificate or substantial experience in CPAP and Bi-PAP usage and monitoring or respiratory therapist/ sleep scientist with experience in CPAP and Bi-PAP.
* Health science qualification
* Experience identifying and participating in quality improvement initiatives to improve workplace practices

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This role carries specific immunisation requirements.
