Orchard Operations Manager Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at CMV Farms, where we are undertaking the development of a 280-hectare pistachio orchard in Victoria. We are seeking a full-time Orchard Operations Manager to efficiently manage the daily operations of the orchard.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead a team of workers, providing guidance, training and performance management to ensure efficient and safe daily operations.
2. Monitor and adjust orchard operations in response to changing weather conditions and seasonal variations.
3. Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and Irrigation Manager to maintain a productive and cohesive farming operation.
4. Maintain a full working knowledge of property systems, farm machinery, and all field operations.
5. Plan, cost, and review all aspects of orchard operations.
6. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
1. 5+ years' experience in a senior orchard management role, with a hands-on approach to leading a motivated team of workers.
2. Excellent technical knowledge of orchard management practices and seasonal programs.
3. Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
4. Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of orchard machinery.
5. Proven commercial acumen with proficiency in Microsoft programs and other relevant software.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high quality of work.
8. A forklift licence and chemical handling certificate are preferable.
9. Tertiary qualifications in horticulture, agriculture or a related field are looked favourably upon but not essential.
