About the Role
As a
Solution Architect
, you'll provide strategic and technical leadership across major ICT initiatives. You will work closely with business areas, IT stakeholders, and Agile Delivery Teams to design, govern, and guide solutions that align with enterprise goals and operational requirements. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape cloud, hybrid, and on-premises architectures that underpin some of the country's most important services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of complex architectures that meet business and strategic needs.
* Provide technical governance and ensure consistency across projects.
* Evaluate solution options, balancing cost, performance, scalability, and risk.
* Document architectures, frameworks, and standards for cloud and on-premises environments.
* Partner with delivery teams to translate specifications into actionable designs.
* Champion security, compliance, and best-practice frameworks.
* Support Agile teams with ongoing solution design, integration, and review.
Requirements
Essential
* 3–5 years' experience as a Solution Architect on large-scale transformation projects/programs.
* Proven ability to design solutions across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
* Proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure DevOps, Azure API Management, Azure Application Service Environments, Azure Functions & Logic Apps, Azure Service
* Knowledge of frameworks such as: Blazor, React, SPA frameworks, OpenAI, HATEOAS, asynchronous integration, composable applications, data microservices.
* Strong communication skills – able to translate technical detail into clear business language.
* Demonstrated relationship-building skills, engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
* Tertiary or industry certification in IT/Computer Science or related discipline.
* Skills in ArchiMate (3.1) for documentation and modelling.
* Experience in Commonwealth Government ICT transformation programs.
* Understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
