We are Dorevitch Pathology, part of Healius. We provide pathology services across Australia with a large network of laboratories and collection centres. This role offers job stability and opportunities to grow within a large organisation.
About the role
We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Routine receipting and processing of specimens
- Pre and post-analytical specimen handling
- Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
- Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
- Assisting scientists in the lab as required
- Continuous learning of processing requirements of different sample types for different tests
- Staying up to date with processing updates
- Respond to results, specimen requirements and general queries
- Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage
- Interacting with doctors and nursing staff in hospital settings
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
- Specimen processing and data entry experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Understanding the importance of following procedures accurately
- Willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology would be desirable, but not essential
- Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or Pathology Collection is desirable
