(HEO5) $82,922 - $92,203 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Continuing, part-time (0.80 FTE) position based primarily on the Waite Campus.

Play a part in shaping the future of agriculture, food, and biotechnology through hands-on, high-impact teaching support.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Officer to support the delivery of high-quality teaching in the fields of Plant and Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Technology, Soil Science, and Wine Science. Working under general direction, you will be responsible for planning and delivering practical classes, ensuring all consumables, equipment, and teaching materials are prepared and maintained to a high standard.

This role requires strong collaboration with academic staff to coordinate the effective and timely delivery of practicals, while also ensuring full compliance with Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) policies and relevant legislative requirements. You'll maintain accurate records of teaching resources and assets, and provide hands-on technical support in both laboratory and field settings. The Technical Services Team provides expert support to students, academics, and researchers, enhancing education and research through collaborative, customer-focused service. Based at the Waite Campus, the Agriculture, Food and Wine Technical Team supports world-class teaching and research in areas such as sustainable agriculture, crop improvement, food technology, viticulture, and oenology. The team works closely with university staff, industry partners, and research collaborators, while maintaining safe and efficient use of teaching and laboratory spaces.

To be successful you will need:

* Demonstrated experience in plant and Agricultural Sciences, Soil Science, and Wine Science.
* Demonstrated experience in maintenance of lab equipment, chemical handling and waste disposal processes.
* Experience with laboratory equipment: developing SOP, RA, routine maintenance, liaising with contractor for equipment repair.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate individual and team work activities to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
* Knowledge of HSW and safety management with demonstrated experience in application of these in a research environment.
