Your New Role And Responsibilities
As a Senior GIS Production Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and operational oversight within a high-performing geospatial delivery team responsible for the production, assurance, and continuous improvement of enterprise GIS data and products supporting mission-critical outcomes. Operating within secure and complex environments, you will take accountability for the reliability, quality, and efficiency of GIS production services. You will apply advanced geospatial engineering, data management, and automation expertise to ensure production workflows are scalable, repeatable, and aligned with customer, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership and end-to-end accountability for GIS production activities, ensuring quality, schedule, and compliance objectives are met.
* Define, maintain, and evolve production standards, schemas, workflows, and quality criteria aligned to organisational and customer requirements.
* Apply advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing techniques to produce, review, and assure complex geospatial products.
* Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated and semi-automated GIS production pipelines and tooling.
* Act as escalation point for complex production issues, driving root cause analysis, remediation, and risk-informed technical guidance.
* Drive continuous improvement, operational maturity, documentation, and mentoring to uplift team capability and ensure consistent best practice.
What You'll Bring To Make An Impact
* Extensive experience in GIS production, geospatial data engineering, or enterprise geospatial delivery roles.
* Advanced knowledge of GIS platforms and tools (e.g. Esri ArcGIS suite), including enterprise and production environments.
* Strong expertise in spatial data models, schemas, coordinate reference systems, geodatabases, and metadata standards.
* Demonstrated accountability for geospatial data quality, validation, and assurance in production settings.
* Proven experience designing or leading automated, scalable GIS production workflows and pipelines.
* Strong stakeholder engagement, professional judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement in regulated or enterprise environments.
Additional Requirements
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold an active TSPV Clearance, with the ability to be successful for a DISA.
