They are seeking an experienced Finance Officer to support their team on a 4‑month temporary contract with the possibility of extension, based in Townsville.
Your new role
This role supports the Financial Reporting team by helping manage all daily banking and financial processes. The Finance Officer is responsible for keeping cash balances accurate, completing reconciliations, preparing forecasts, and assisting with general financial tasks to ensure the team meets its deadlines.
Key Requirements & Responsibilities
* Keep cash balances accurate and up to date.
* Carry out daily banking and investment tasks.
* Support the Financial Reporting team with general finance duties.
* Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
* Prepare daily cash forecasts and organise transfers between accounts.
* Load and authorise EFT payments for payroll and accounts payable.
* Download agency files and send them to the right business areas.
* Complete monthly general ledger reconciliations.
* Provide backup and support to the other Finance Officer in the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will possess the following:
* Previous experience in finance or accounts, ideally within a similar banking, reconciliation, or cash management role.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to keep financial records accurate and up to date.
* Confidence with daily banking processes, account reconciliations, and handling EFT payments.
* A strong understanding of general ledger tasks and monthly reconciliation requirements.
* Ability to work reliably within set deadlines and support a busy finance team.
* Comfortable using financial systems and online banking platforms.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with all staff and colleagues.
* Willingness to provide backup support where required and be a positive team player.
* Must be able to obtain a current National Police Check.
* Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screening prior to commencing.
