The Role
We are seeking a Research Fellow to undertake research on a 3-year NHMRC Ideas grant titled Reducing alcohol consumption through the sober curious movement.
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct mixed-methods research involving social media analysis, interviews with high alcohol consuming groups, and co-development of interventions for alcohol reduction.
This study aims to understand the social worlds of drinking and the potential for sober curiosity in four heavy drinking 'case-study' groups: male construction workers, hospitality sector workers, LGBTQ+ women, and tertiary education students living in regional areas.
As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for all stages of the study for two of these case-study groups and will contribute to the other two groups when required.

Responsibilities
* Implement a research plan in line with the funded NHMRC research proposal
* Achieve required research outputs
* Undertake data collection and analysis and prepare reports, presentations, communications, grant submissions, and other correspondence
* Manage administration related to research work
* Deliver and coordinate research seminars related to individual research outputs as required

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A PhD in an academic discipline commensurate with the study (e.g. sociology, public health, anthropology, psychology, addiction studies)
* Experience undertaking independent research post-PhD
* Experience collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data
* A strong track record of research outputs in high-ranking academic journals
* Experience undertaking research using some of the following methods: social media analysis, citizen science, qualitative interviews, ethnography, questionnaire surveys
* Experience obtaining competitive research grants (desirable)
* Experience in non-traditional dissemination of research (desirable)
