About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in underground hard rock mining projects. This role will suit a commercially astute professional who understands the technical, operational, and logistical complexities of underground environments. You will be responsible for preparing detailed, risk-aware cost estimates across development, production infrastructure, and underground construction scopes. The successful candidate will combine strong underground operational knowledge with advanced estimating capability to deliver accurate and competitive tenders. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground hard rock projects including: Decline and level development Production stoping Underground infrastructure (ventilation, services, pump stations, crushers) Ground support and rehabilitation work Analyse drawings, mine plans, schedules, and technical specifications Develop labour, plant, explosives, ground support, materials, and subcontract cost build-ups Assess underground productivity rates and cycle times Identify and quantify geotechnical, access, sequencing, and operational risks Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing Conduct site visits to assess underground constraints and logistical considerations Prepare tender submissions, clarifications, and commercial breakdowns Participate in bid reviews, risk workshops, and estimate governance processes Support project teams during handover to operations Required Experience 8–10 years’ experience in underground hard rock mining Demonstrated estimating experience within underground development and/or production contracts Strong understanding of underground mining methods (e.g. jumbo development, longhole stoping) Sound knowledge of ground control management and underground safety systems Familiarity with underground equipment fleets and productivity benchmarks Experience working in contractor or principal mining environments Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in estimating software and cost modelling tools Strong understanding of cost drivers specific to underground mining Ability to interpret mine schedules and integrate them into cost forecasts Knowledge of shutdowns, re-entry constraints, and live operating environments Commercial and contractual awareness Key Attributes Strong analytical and numerical capability High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work under tight bid deadlines Confident communicator across operations, engineering, and commercial teams Risk-aware with a practical underground mindset What’s on Offer Attractive remuneration package Exposure to technically complex underground mining projects Flexible roster arrangements Opportunity to influence major contract awards Supportive and high-performing team environment If you are a Senior Estimator with deep underground hard rock experience and are looking to take on technically challenging and commercially significant projects, we welcome a confidential discussion.
