Purpose of the Position
As the Deputy CEO Operations, you would be responsible for overseeing and driving the strategic direction and operational excellence, efficiency, and scalability across all areas of the organisation. The DCEO Operations will play a pivotal role in achieving the strategic goals and objectives to ensure Batchelor Institute's success.

The role will be responsible for growing the Institute's reputation as a leading Indigenous Australian institute in Indigenous Australian knowledges and engaging with government and communicating the uniqueness of our institute to stakeholders and communities.

The Deputy CEO Operations reports to the CEO and leads a team promoting a culture of excellence and collaboration.

Duties
* Operate as a member of Batchelor Institute's Senior Executive Leadership Team, contributing to decision-making and ensuring the effective management of the Institute.
* Provide strategic advice to the CEO, and where appropriate to the Institute Council, on all aspects of operations planning across the Institute.
* Develop and implement the Institute's operational strategy in alignment with Institute's goals and industry trends.
* Work closely with the CFO to develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality and service levels, including monitor and control expenses to meet budgets.
* Develop and maintain effective risk management strategies to mitigate operational and financial risks.
* Oversee the effective management and administration of operations funding, ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding bodies' requirements.
* Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies, implementing best practice streamline operations.
* Ensure the Institute maintains high standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance with regulatory frameworks and government policies.
* Implement performance metrics and reporting systems to track progress and drive performance improvement.
* Implement a distinctive recruitment and retention strategy that attracts and retains high calibre staff.
* Lead, inspire, and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* Represent the Institute at a local, national, and international level and on boards and committees through interactions with Government, industry, and other major stakeholders.
* Align with and actively demonstrate the Institute values and the Code of Conduct.
* Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations.
2. Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or relevant experience.
3. Significant senior level experience conducting, analysing and/or making decisions and recommendations.
4. Excellent leadership, interpersonal and people management skills.
5. Excellent negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated experience managing budgets and department financial performance.
7. Strategic planning skills; proven experience establishing robust governance, compliance and reporting frameworks.
8. Ability to analyse complex issues, make strategic decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
9. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
10. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
