About The Role
Ipswich Hospital Intensive Care Unit is a Level 5 adult service and Level 4 paediatric service as designated by the Clinical Services Capability Framework (CSCF) for care of critically ill patients within Ipswich Hospital and the surrounding areas. The aim of Intensive Care is to provide timely access to high quality, evidence based, efficient and safe patient focused care for critically ill patients throughout their stay within the service. We foster a supportive connection between staff and patient family and relatives. We also strive to support, encourage and develop all staff who work within the service ensuring a culture of learning resulting in a capable and educated nursing workforce.
Senior nursing staff are required to demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge in the area of advanced haemodynamic monitoring, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapies and delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members. Responsibilities of this position include shift supervisory responsibilities, working as part of the medical emergency response team within Ipswich Hospital, and collaboratively working within the multidisciplinary team to meet all requirements of the critically ill patient and family. The nursing model provides the opportunity to work a combination of both 12- and 8-hour roster patterns. Staff are required to be available to work all shifts 7 days a week. Clinical Nurses working within this specialty unit are required to hold a postgraduate qualification relevant to the specialty. This position is accountable for a portfolio to support evidence-based practice and research within the area of Intensive Care nursing at West Moreton.
