About the role: The Director leads the Clinical Governance, Culture and Capability Unit within the Safety branch at Safer Care Victoria (SCV). This unit exists to strengthen system capability through evidence-informed education, clinical governance support, consumer engagement, policy and experience-led learning. It plays a critical role in translating safety insights into action by building the knowledge, skills, structures, and cultural conditions required for safe, person-centred care across the Victorian health system. The unit develops and delivers targeted safety education, embeds co-design and lived experience in improvement efforts, and fosters partnerships that promote trust, transparency, and continuous learning. Through this work, it supports health services to embed good governance, lead cultural change, and engage meaningfully with consumers and clinicians to deliver safer, higher quality care. About us: At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected. We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. About you: * A senior leader with experience driving system-wide capability building, education, and safety improvement across the public health sector, with a strong commitment to achieving better outcomes for patients, families, and communities? * Skilled in partnering with a wide range of stakeholders, including consumers, clinicians, health services, government agencies, and peak bodies to deliver high-impact, evidence-informed change? * Experienced in embedding co-design, lived experience, and human factors into improvement initiatives, and shaping policy and programs that are inclusive, transparent, and consumer-centred? * A confident project sponsor and strategic thinker, with the ability to oversee and support the delivery of complex, high-impact initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and timeframes? * An inclusive and strategic people leader, capable of building and empowering high-performing multidisciplinary teams, and fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and psychological safety? * Expert in navigating complexity, managing cross-sector projects and partnerships, and delivering strategic priorities in dynamic environments? What we offer: * The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world. * A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector. * A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.
