Position Overview:
We are seeking a resilient and proactive Assistant Youth Coordinator to support our Individual Placement and Support operations across the West side of Brisbane. This role involves regular travel between sites to ensure Young People receive consistent, high-quality support and that staff teams are well-prepared.
Working alongside the Regional Coordinator and wider leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day operations, maintaining oversight of staff practice, ensuring homes remain safe and prepared, and assisting with communication between teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Staff Support & Practice Guidance
• Visit multiple sites daily to assist staff and provide on-the-spot guidance.
• Support staff with training, routines, risk considerations, and practice expectations.
• Assist with onboarding new staff, including buddy shifts and competency checks.
• Provide feedback to Coordinators on staff performance, support needs, and development areas.
• Respond to occasional after-hours calls for urgent matters to help maintain safety and continuity across the service.
2. Placement Readiness & House Standards
• Ensure homes are well presented, stocked, and prepared for planned or emergency placements.
• Conduct routine walk-throughs to identify maintenance, safety, or environmental concerns.
• Ensure vehicles, equipment, and household resources meet organisational standards.
3. Documentation, Compliance & Reporting
• Monitor incident reports for accuracy and completeness before escalation.
• Check daily notes, logs, and other documentation to ensure compliance.
• Record site observations and follow-up actions in a timely and organised manner.
• Support adherence to organisational policies, procedures, and Child Safety expectations.
4. Coordination & Communication
• Maintain clear communication with Coordinators, Child Safety Officers, and the rostering team.
• Provide updates on staff, young people, incidents, and operational concerns.
• Support young person transitions, appointments, and general coordination tasks as required.
• Alert leadership promptly to any emerging risks, behaviour changes, or safety concerns.
About You:
• 2 years of experience in Child Safety, residential care, youth work, social work or a similar high-intensity community services environment is highly regarded.
• Strong, confident communicator able to provide clear direction, reinforce expectations, and support staff in challenging situations.
• Resilient, calm under pressure, and able to manage complex behaviours, crises, and rapidly changing environments.
• Comfortable working independently across multiple sites each day, making sound decisions with limited supervision.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail, particularly when managing documentation, safety requirements, and follow-up tasks.
• Demonstrates professionalism, consistent boundaries, and a practical, solution-focused approach.
• Confident reviewing incident reports, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with organisational and Child Safety standards.
• Works collaboratively with Coordinators and frontline staff, contributing to a supportive, accountable, and high-performance team environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, mobile apps, and digital systems used for documentation and communication.
