Primary objective
As part of a small dynamic and high performing team, you will support regional leadership and coordination for the Barkly region,
across and beyond the Northern Territory Public Sector. This involves leading, partnering and coordinating with government
agencies, community organisations, and key stakeholders to rebuild the economy, reduce crime and restore the Territory lifestyle
at the regional level. You will play a key role to coordinate and develop economic growth strategies for the Barkly region and
support local emergency recovery activities.
Context statement
The Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet's purpose is to deliver coordinated policy and priority reform, regional
leadership, and high-quality support to Executive Government. This position reports to the Executive Director, Barkly Region.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support coordination and delivery of whole-of-government priorities regionally through regional and community coordination
committees and strategic engagement.
2. Manage regional initiatives and projects, support capacity building, identify opportunities, partnerships, agreements,
implementation and monitoring.
1. Develop, maintain and influence collaborative partnerships with colleagues and stakeholders at regional and community levels.
2. Prepare and review high level briefings, reports, correspondence, strategic and project plans to support the Regional Executive
Director.
5. Provide leadership and coordinate activities of Chief Minister and Cabinet staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the
regional office.
6. Support emergency and disaster management and recovery.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven capacity to coordinate effective policy outcomes to communities in a highly sensitive, complex, joined up government
and cross-cultural environment.
2. Demonstrated senior leadership and management skills incorporating strong strategic, communication, influencing and
emotional intelligence skills.
3. Proven capacity to design and implement strategic plans and projects, and provide strategic advice to government and other
key stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated understanding of policy and related implementation, particularly as it relates to the government's three key
pillars of rebuilding the economy, reducing crime, and restoring the unique Territory lifestyle.
5. An understanding of the social, political and demographic environment of Barkly Region and an ability to interact effectively
with people from diverse cultures.
6. Demonstrated experiences with emergency management and recovery.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in management, policy development, community engagement, or business administration.
