An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Retail Group Operations Manager to join one of Australia's most unique and purpose-driven retail organisations based in Darwin.
Reporting directly to the GM Retail, this role will oversee a network of Area Managers across NT & QLD with a strong focus on leadership development, operational performance, commercial outcomes and continuous improvement across a large multi-site retail portfolio.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role with genuine long‐term growth potential. The previous leader in this position has recently been promoted internally into the GM Retail role.
About the Role
This is a high-impact leadership role where no two days look the same.
You'll work closely with Area Managers and operational teams to drive:
* Commercial performance and operational consistency
* Leadership coaching and team development
* Budgeting, forecasting and P&L performance
* Process improvement and operational efficiencies
* Community and stakeholder engagement
* Workforce planning and succession development
* Retail standards and compliance across multiple sites
The role is based in Darwin and includes regular travel to remote communities across the Northern Territory and Queensland.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading and coaching a team of Area Managers
* Supporting operational strategy alongside the GM Retail
* Driving sales, cost control and overall store performance
* Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiencies
* Supporting large-scale retail operations across diverse locations
* Building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
* Developing leadership capability across the retail network
* Supporting budgeting and financial planning processes
* Driving a positive and people-focused leadership culture
What You'll Bring
* Senior multi‐site retail leadership experience
* Strong supermarket, grocery or large‐format retail operations background
* Experience leading leaders across dispersed locations
* High commercial and financial acumen
* Strong budgeting, reporting and operational analysis capability
* A hands‐on and adaptable leadership style

* The ability to balance accountability with empathy and people leadership
