Based at our St Lucia and/or Gatton campus About These Opportunities Current coursework students at UQ or any other institution are not eligible to apply for these roles. Higher Degree Research students are eligible to apply. Hours of work are based on a rostered shift allocation during central exam periods, subject to University requirements. Casual Examination Supervisors You will play a key role to ensure all students have the opportunity to sit examinations under optimal conditions according to University assessment and examination policies and procedures. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to; Supervise student seating arrangements and assist with student direction and seating allocation. Verify student identification and manage examination materials, including attendance forms and question papers. Monitor student behaviour and address inquiries during examinations, ensuring compliance with examination regulations. Operate basic audiovisual equipment and computers within examination venues. Perform miscellaneous duties as instructed by the Chief Supervisor or Senior Administrative Officers, Examinations. Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs, and lifting items of up to 5 kgs. Setting up and preparing electronic equipment and devices for digital examinations. Employing troubleshooting protocols to address minor technical issues on students' devices as needed. Logging technical issues promptly using a personal smartphone during exam sessions. Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality, customer-focused service in demanding situations. Key times: Supervisors are required for the following exam periods: Summer Semester Examination Period: Early February (early March for deferred and supplementary examinations) In-Semester One Examination Period: March and April (early May for deferred and supplementary examinations) End of Semester One Examination Period: June (July for deferred and supplementary examinations) In-Semester Two Examination Period: August and September (early October for deferred and supplementary examinations) End of Semester Two Examination Period: November (December for deferred and supplementary examinations) Interviews are tentatively scheduled for March as well. About You Tech Assistants are to provide basic technological support to students during the exam, and to execute standard exam supervisor policies and procedures. you will have attended a Tech Assistant training session (approx. 90 minutes) provided by the Examinations team. If you are not already an Assistant Supervisor, you will also need to undertake Assistant Supervisor training. possess basic computer skills such as plugging a laptop in, turning it on, opening Google or Firefox, using the address bar and trackpad to move the cursor, directing a student to close background programs ability to follow procedures outlined in a guide ability to speak to students in a calm manner if they need technological or other assistance work under the guidance of the Senior Tech and Chief Supervisor in the exam room refer more complicated technological issues to the Senior Tech in the exam room You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks.
